Bloomberg Deputy Heads to Development Firm
A Manhattan developer hires Marc
Shaw from the New York City mayor's office. Also, New Jersey
gets a new head for its department of transportation.
NEW HIRES
Marc Shaw, most recently a first deputy mayor for New York
City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, has joined Extell Development,
a real estate developer based in New York, as executive vice
president for strategic planning.
Mark Maljanian has joined Butler Rogers Baskett, an architectural
and interior design firm based in New York, as studio design
leader.
Alma Smith has joined Hill International, a construction
consulting firm based in Marlton, N.J., as vice president
in the project management group.
Kris Kolluri was named commissioner of the New Jersey Department
of Transportation by Gov. Jon Corzine, replacing Jack Lettiere,
who retired. Kolluri had previously been Lettiere's chief
of staff but most recently was an attorney at Parker McCay
in Marlton, N.J.
Robin Stout has been named president of the Moynihan Station
Development Corp., a subsidiary of the Empire State Development
Corp. that is overseeing the conversion of the James A. Farley
Post Office building near Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan
into a new $818 million transit station.
Eugene Colonese has been appointed administrator of the Connecticut
Department of Transportation's Division of Rail Operations.
Tucker Reed has been named executive director of the newly
formed District Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass business
improvement district.
Joe Amicone has been named counsel on energy issues for New
York Gov. George Pataki.
Paul Curcio has been hired as director of utility engineering
at BL Cos., an architectural and engineering firm based in
Meriden, Conn. The firm also recently opened a new Hartford,
Conn., office at 150 Trumbull St.
Achille Niro has taken the post of vice president at DMJM
Harris, an engineering and construction firm based in New
York.
Jerrold Dinkels has joined STV Inc., an architectural, engineering,
planning, environmental, and construction management firm
based in New York, as vice president and eastern region manager
of projects in the company's buildings and facilities division.
Arthur Spitalnick has joined the Kaufman Organization, a
real estate owner and manager based in New York, as managing
director.
David Wisotsky has been hired as site and civil division
chief at McLaren Engineering Group, an engineering firm based
in West Nyack, N.Y., while Jay Reichgott has been promoted
to marine division chief.
PROMOTIONS
Brian Sitzman has been promoted to associate principal of
Cannon Design, a planning and design firm based in Grand Island,
N.Y.
Roderic Ellman has been named partner at Mueser Rutledge
Consulting Engineers, a foundation engineering firm based
in New York.
Paul Moyer has been named executive vice president at the
Pike Co., a construction firm based in Rochester, N.Y. The
company also promoted Gilbert DiMaio to vice president of
eastern region general construction and William McMordie to
vice president of eastern region construction management.
Shawn Marren has been named senior associate and Joshua Keay
has been named associate at daSILVA Architects, an architectural,
planning, and consulting firm based in New York.
Robert Harlow has been promoted to senior associate at Brennan
Beer Gorman Architects and Brennan Beer Gorman Monk Interiors,
a New York-based architecture and interior design firm. It
also promoted Max Petersen, Liza Morales-Crespo, and Marcelle
Irving to associate.
Mark Witek and Mazher Usmani have been promoted to senior
associate at Dewberry, an engineering firm based in Fairfax,
Va. Witek works in the civil engineering department at the
company's New Haven, Conn., office and Usmani is in its Bloomfield,
N.J. office.
Patrick Orrico has been promoted to chief architect at Beyer
Blinder Belle, an architectural firm headquartered in New
York. The firm also has promoted Yetsuh Frank, Joseph Gall,
and Carolyn Straub to associate and Margaret Kittinger, Neil
Kittredge, Elizabeth Leber, Richard Metsky, and Michael Wetstone
to partner.
Joseph DiBernardo has been promoted to executive vice president
for business development at Ginsburg Development, a residential
real estate developer based in Valhalla, N.Y. The firm also
has promoted Pat LaBracio to regional vice president of GDC
Homes in Rockland County, Richard Mancuso to director of acquisitions
and development, Glen Moran to regional vice president of
GDC Homes in Connecticut, Dan Mulvey to executive vice president
of GDC Homes, and Jack O'Connell to acquisitions and development
project manager.
Timothy Quinlan has been named a partner at Quinlan Development
Group, a New York-based real estate development company.
Scot Bini has been promoted to manager of the education business
line at the New York offices of URS Corp., a planning, engineering,
and construction management firm based in San Francisco.
Joseph Lopardo has been promoted to account executive of
Aragon Construction, a New York-based general contracting,
construction management, and consulting firm.
Jerry Fioriti has been promoted to director of technology
at AERCO International, a supplier of commercial boilers and
water heaters based in Northvale, N.J. It also has promoted
Neil Pilaar to director of global sales, Mark Croce to director
of marketing, Mohamed Mehdi Doura to senior product engineer,
and Ken Banuls to senior lab technician.
David Terry and Thomas Cusack both have been promoted to
vice president and principal of Leggette, Brashears &
Graham, a groundwater and environmental engineering services
firm. The firm recently relocated its Connecticut headquarters
to 4 Research Dr. in Shelton.
Steve Klempa has been promoted to head the construction services
group of the Thomas Group, an architectural and engineering
design firm based in Ithaca, N.Y. Matt Monaghan has been appointed
general manager of the firm's Albany office.

Arthur Rubinstein of Skyline Steel, based in Parsippany,
N.J., has been elected president of Allied Building Metal
Industries, an association of New York City-area metal construction
contractors.
Joseph Zeller, director of accounting and audit services
at Anchin, Block & Anchin, a financial services provider
to the construction industry, has become one of only 300 Certified
Construction Industry Financial Professionals in the country.
Anthony Lifrieri of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts-World of
Disney New York has been named president of the New York chapter
of the Building Owners and Managers Association. In addition,
Angelo Grima of Grubb & Ellis Management Services has
been named vice president and Edward Fallon of Brookfield
Properties has been selected as secretary. Kenneth Wentworth
of Western Management will stay on as treasurer.
Louis Coletti, president of the Building Trades Employers'
Association of New York, has been appointed to the New York
State Apprenticeship and Training Council.
James DeCuzzi, CEO of the Sapir Organization, a New York-based
real estate holding and development company, has been appointed
to the board of governors of the Real Estate Board of New
York.
Donald Newell has earned accreditation from the U.S. Green
Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design professional. Newell is a senior project engineer with
Trimech Corp., a subsidiary in Pompton Plains, N.J., of EMCOR
Group, a mechanical and electrical systems manufacturer and
installer based in Norwalk, Conn.
James Purcell, vice president and branch manager of Medina
Consultants, an engineering, design, and construction management
firm based in Hackettstown, N.J., has won the 2005 Engineer
of the Year award from the Mercer County chapter of the New
Jersey Society of Professional Engineers. Medina also announced
it has opened a new office in New York.
