IBEW Local 164 Celebrates Anniversary

Group going strong for 107 years. Also, MTA Chief advises NYBC members.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 164 recently celebrated 107 years of electrical excellence by honoring 31 members for their combined 1,765 years of distinguished service to the construction industry. Headquartered in Paramus, Local 164’s membership is comprised of more than 3,900 members throughout New Jersey. The New York Building Congress recently held its Annual Membership Meeting at the Mandarin Oriental in Manhattan. The Congress invted New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority Executive Director and CEO Elliot Sander as the keynote speaker. The Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms Park, LLC, a non-profit corporation operating as a wholly owner subsidiary of the Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt Institute, recently hosted an evening for the exhibit, Louis I. Kahn: The Making of a Room, an exhibit that celebrated many of Kahn’s interior designs and included a perspective rendering of the Four Freedoms Park which is about to be built on Roosevelt Island in New York City and is one of Kahn’s last designs. The event took place at the Arthur Ross Gallery in the Fisher Fine Arts Library, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. Pictured from left are: William R. Top leaders and executives of businesses and labor/trade construction organizations collectively raised $1,140,000 at the 28th Annual Friends of Saint Dominic’s Business & Labor Awards Dinner that was held in the grand ballroom of the Waldorf-Astoria, helping the Blauvelt, New York based Saint Dominic’s Home continue its mission of bettering the lives of those in need.
