NYBC Honors Industry Chiefs

Congress holds recognition dinner to praise A/E/C work. Also, DOB Commissioner LiMandri and BOMA/NY collaborate to enforce codes.

The Associated Builders of Greater New York hosted a luncheon to discuss the outlook on the state of the city economy. The Chief Operating Officer of New York City’s Economic Development Corporation, Tokumbo Shobowale, assured members that with plenty of ongoing projects and new opportunities lined up in New York, he expects the economy to bounce back quickly. BOMA/NY recently held its Annual Conference at the New York Marriott Marquis and invited New York City Buildings Department Commissioner Robert LiMandri to be the keynote speaker. LiMandri rallied the BOMA/NY members to make sure their staff members are thoroughly familiar with the codes and enforcement measures, and promised equal diligence from the New York City. At the New York Building Congress’ Industry Recognition Dinner at the Grand Hyatt New York, nearly 1,000 members gathered to pay tribute to four industry giants.  Henegan Construction Chair & CEO Maureen Henegan and STV Group, Inc. Chairman & CEO Dominick Servedio were presented with Industry Recognition Awards.  Thornton Tomasetti Founding Principal Richard Tomasetti received the George A. Fox Public Service Award, and Special Recognition was given to New York City Department of Design and Construction Commissioner David Burney. The event, moderated by Frederick Rohn, partner at Holland & Knight LLP, discussed the benefits of the Subguard program, designed as both a subcontractor default protection tool and potential investment opportunity for general contractors.
