Annual Construction Luncheon Draws Major Players
Numerous industry representatives honored. Also, affordable Bronx housing opens.

The 32nd Annual Transportation and Construction Luncheon was recently held in Lower Manhattan and hosted by March of Dimes New York Division. The keynote speaker was Elliot Sander, Executive Director & CEO of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and a 2007 event honoree. Honorees for 2008 included: Pamela Newman, executive vice president of AON Corporation who received a Service to Humanity Award; Jay Badame of Tishman Construction Corporation, who received the Steve Greenfield Leadership Award; Anthony Coscia of The Port Authority of NY & NJ, who received the second Service to Humanity Award; and Judy Cooper of Parsons Brinckerhoff, who received the Thomas E. Diana Spirit of Volunteerism Award. The Women’s Transportation Seminar, Greater New York Chapter recently held its annual dinner to discuss planning for the region’s transportation needs. Joel Ettinger and Mary Murphy, executive directors of The New York Metropolitan Transportation Council and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority, respectively, announced a collaborative effort towards transportation planning in the tri-state area. The Kennedy Tower II—a 71-unit, 11-story, $17million apartment complex in West New York, N.J.—recently topped out. To celebrate, West New York Mayor Silverio Vega recently toured the site to assess progress. Construction is expected to wrap up in January 2009.
