Skanska USA Building of Parsippany,
N.J., has acquired parts of AMEC Construction Management's
aviation business, according to a press release. Terms of
the agreement were withheld by the firms, but the agreement
shifts Steve Pressler from a
post as head of the business at AMEC to a new post with Skanska
as area general manager of the New York City office.
A group of AMEC's aviation construction professionals, working
on projects in the Northeast and in Houston, have joined Pressler
at Skanska.
In addition, Skanska has named Jon
Holtz, an employee since 1996, as the new dean of Skanska
University, its educational and professional development program.
RD Weis Companies, a flooring
firm based in Port Chester, N.Y., has announced a corporate
environmental policy stressing recycling and reuse. The principles
include reducing waste, limiting chemical use, and conserving
natural resources, especially water. The company encourages
clients to "go green" by refurbishing or donating
carpet as an alternative to disposal.
The American Subcontractors Association
of New Jersey has selected Papp
Iron Works of Plainfield, a miscellaneous and architectural
metal work specialist, as 2004 Subcontractor of the Year.
The association surveys its members to rate firms on fair
and timely payment, quality, safety, innovation, and schedule
compliance in order to select the winning firm.
Robert Braun and Ronald
Mineo have formed companies based in White Plains,
N.Y., with a branch office in Albany, to serve the energy
and utility industry. Genesys Engineering
will provide study, design, and commissioning services and
Genesys Project Services will
provide construction, project, and facilities management services.
Braun was formerly at Braun Engineering Associates and Mineo
at Joseph R. Loring & Associates, whose energy engineering
staff and projects are moving to Genesys Engineering.
