Christa Construction, LLC, of Rochester, N.Y., was awarded a Certificate of Commendation for Safety Excellence by the Associated General Contractors of America. The award is based on OSHA safety statistics.


Swanke Hayden Connell Architects has been recognized by the New York Council of the Society of Registered Architects with Awards of Merit for P.S. 157 in Brooklyn and the offices of Brown Brothers Harriman. It also received Awards of Honor for the Campiello Collection condominium apartments, and for the strategic plan for Merrill Lynch's World Financial Center offices in New York and its Princeton, N.J. campus.


Calgi Construction Co., of New Rochelle, N.Y. has been honored by Metro NY/NJ Chapter of the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) for its work on the renovation of the Mother Irene Gill Memorial Library at the College of New Rochelle.


AMEC, based in New York, has announced a partnership with the Asian American Business Development Center. The firm will assist Asian American construction companies and related businesses in obtaining the knowledge and skills needed to bid on major regional projects.


Holzmacher, McLendon, Murrell, P.C. (H2M) of Melville, N.Y. was presented with two 2003 Engineering Excellence Awards from the New York Association of Consulting Engineers, Inc. The awards recognized H2M's design of the Iron Filtration System for Rockville Centre and Advanced Wastewater Treatment SBR Plant for the Town of Riverhead.


TransTech Systems, Inc., of Schenectady, N.Y., was honored by the Construction Innovation Forum with the 2003 NOVA Award for its Pavement Quality Indicator, an asphalt paving tester. It was one of six firms honored nationally.


Ralph Clayton & Sons of New Jersey, a division of Clayton Block Concrete & Sand, was honored with several awards by the NJCAA/NJ Chapter of the American Concrete Institute. The honors included a Grand Award for its role as concrete supplier for the Ocean City-Longport Bridge Replacement project, linking Absecon Island to Ocean City.


Crystal Window & Door Systems of Flushing, N.Y., has taken its vinyl and aluminum window products national with the establishment of a coast-to-coast sales organization. The firm also markets aluminum architectural windows, entrance doors, and curtain wall systems.
