Jay Walder has been promoted as the new leader of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority by Governor David Paterson. The agency’s former financial chief, who also held the same position with London’s transit system, was confirmed by a 47-13 by the New York State Senate.
Michael C. Geary has been promoted to Associate Principal at Edwards & Zuck Consulting Engineering Firm in New York City.
Michael Fitzgerald has been promoted to Vice President of Construction of Farmington Hills, Michigan based Agree Realty Corporation.
HONORS AND APPOINTMENTS
The Thornton Tomasetti Foundation awarded New York University $10,000 in scholarships for two students, Yasmina Khan and Sebastian Sztukowski studying engineering and architecture, celebrating the merger of NYU with Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute.
Stalco Construction Inc.’s Project Manager Jennifer AG Rennie has been elected by the National Association of Women in Construction Greater New York and Long Island Chapter 240 as 2009 Chapter Vice President.
Martin Daly, Director of Training at the Labor Technical College in New York City, has received the 2009 “Good Scout” for exemplifying the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Oath and Law in his life.

The Associated General Contractors of New York State have announced the winning entries in its eighteenth annual Build New York Awards competition and they include LeChase Construction Services, LLC of Rochester for its Oswego school District Public Library project, Skanska USA Building Inc. of New York City for its Brooklyn Children’s Museum project, and Turner Construction Company of Albany for its Experimental Media & Performing Arts Center in Troy, New York project. An honorable mention was awarded to Pizzagalli Construction Company of South Burlington, Vermont for its Lake Placid Lodge rebuild project.
