Cooper Union Taps New Board Chair
The board of trustees at the Cooper Union for the Advancement
of Science and Art in Manhattan has selected Ronald Drucker
as its chair. He will lead the board as it advances a master
plan to build on its prime real estate and maintain its
goal to provide full tuition scholarships for all of its
undergraduates.
The plans include a new $120 million, 200,000-sq.-ft.
academic building already in design, the leasing of a parcel
to a developer for a 22-story residential complex now under
construction, and a future 14-story, commercial and academic
building.
Drucker, a Cooper Union alumnus, had been a board member
and had served as vice chair previously. He had been an
executive at CSX Corporation Railroads, including posts
as chief engineer and president and CEO of its CSX Rail
Transport unit. He currently serves on several corporate
boards and as a consultant on transportation and technology
issues.
Drucker succeeds Robert Bernhard, who led the board for
nine years and remains as a trustee.
