LiMandri Rallies Industry for Safety Seminar

GNYCUC features DOB Commissioner at local event. Also, PWC has new Board.

GNYCUC Drafts LiMandri to Highlight Safety

The Greater New York Construction User Council recently hosted a seminar on construction safety and featured New York City Department of Buildings Commissioner Robert LiMandri as the keynote speaker.

The State of Construction Safety seminar focused on issues faced by private, public and institutional real estate owners, facility managers, corporate and institutional tenants, as well as design, engineering and project management professionals.

Commissioner LiMandri reviewed recent guidelines and modifications designed for developing the city’s safety initiatives. He also discussed the key components of his $4 million Construction Analysis and Oversight Plan, which include concrete, excavation and crane operations regulations.

The seminar also included presentations by Louis Coletti of the Building Trades Employers’ Association and Richard Mendelson, New York City Area Director for OSHA, who both provided insight on the current state of the construction industry in New York and methods for improving public and worker safety, said GNYCUC.

“This event presented opportunity for dialogue on the changes being made in our city’s practices to prevent unfortunate accidents from reoccurring. Without such changes and the support of industry leaders, we cannot begin to move forward and enhance safety conditions,” said Jonathan Resnick, Chairman of GNYCUC.

Holding the seminar became a top priority following recent high-profile construction accidents in New York City, said GNYCUC.
