The Connecticut Building Congress has elected Catherine J. Ellithorpe, senior associate for The S/L/A/M Collaborative Inc., as president-elect for 2014-2015. She has been with SLAM since 1988 and leads its corporate architectural studio. Ellithorpe also serves on the marketing committee for the Construction Institute and on the building commission for the town of Suffield.

Benway
The Institute of Transportation Engineers has elected Paula Benway, transportation manager at Stantec, Rochester, N.Y., as international vice president for 2015. She has more than 28 years of experience in managing transportation planning and traffic engineering projects.

PARS Environmental, a woman-owned consulting firm based in Robbinsville, N.J., has hired Wayne Wittman as a business development manager. He was formerly a scientific research manager at PSEG and a 34-year veteran of the power and gas utility.

Michael J. Petrisko has rejoined Hill International Inc. as senior vice president and chief information officer. Petrisko previously served in this position from 2007 through 2012. Prior to his current appointment, Petrisko was vice president and CIO at STV Group and, prior to joining Hill in 2007, he served as AECOM Technology Corp.'s director of global IT operations. He will be based in Marlton, N.J.

Skanska USA has launched the national power and industrial center of excellence, a business unit focusing on powerplant projects. Brian McCabe joins the firm to lead the new unit as senior vice president and national director. He was formerly vice president of business development at National Grid, an electric and natural gas utility serving New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. McCabe is based in Queens, N.Y.

The Lighting Quotient, New Haven, has hired Robert Keimig as vice president of global sales. He is responsible for both outside regional sales and inside sales as well as project managers.

Francis Cauffman, a New York City architect and planning firm, has appointed Aran A. McCarthy to lead its New York health care team. McCarthy, who joined the firm in 2000 and was made partner in 2009, will be in charge of managing new and long-term client relationships, supervising delivery and overseeing quality.

Parsons Brinckerhoff, New York City, has hired Vincent Lombardi as supervisory resident engineer. His duties include supervising construction of the entrance to the East 63rd Street and Lexington Avenue station for the Second Avenue Subway project, for which PB is providing construction management services.

PB also hired Pavan Pulijaal as supervising engineer. He is responsible for management and delivery of construction-phase services for the East Side Access project, including facility electrical systems, communications, security, radio, tunnel ventilation and controls. Charles "Chuck" Reed has joined PB as supervising communications and security engineer, responsible for conceptual development and design of large-scale communications and security projects at airports and transit facilities. The firm also hired John Kovar as traffic engineering manager. He will manage daily operations of its New York traffic engineering department and be responsible for business development.

Kenneth M. Champion has joined STV as vice president in its construction management division. He will be project executive for the firm's work on the Delta Airlines terminal redevelopment program at JFK International Airport in Jamaica, N.Y. He had previously served as program director for the United Nations' $2.13-billion capital master plan. Champion also was founder and president of Florida-based Champion Construction Management Inc.

 

Kwan
Leslie E. Robertson Associates (LERA), New York City, has named Wing-Pin (Winnie) Kwan a partner. She has moved from the New York City office to Shanghai to serve as firm director there. LERA also promoted Sangho Han and Patrick Hopple from project managers to senior associates.

Eighteen Stantec Inc. engineers based in Binghamton and Rochester, N.Y., are now certified professionals in Green Globes, a Web-based green building rating and certification system developed by ECD Energy and Environment Canada. They are: Carl Assini, Timothy Envid, Vincent Ferraccioli, James Green, John Hakola, Kurt Hakola, David Hansen, Michael Heikkila, Timothy Howe, Raymond Kesel, Mark Kotar, Jeri Pickett, Stuart Shrauger, Mark Szigeti, Jocelyn Tokos, Scott Tubbs, Mary Vanderpool and Ryan Wilcox.

New Day Underwriting Managers, Hamilton, N.J., has hired Dawn Myers as director of office services. In addition, the firm has hired Heidi Burke as an account manager.

Syska Hennessy Group Inc., New York City, has hired Daniel H. Nall as a vice president and regional director of high performance buildings to oversee global building design initiatives.

Shawmut Design and Construction has named Kelly O'Brien as project manager in its North Haven, Conn., office.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has reappointed Charles H. Sarlo, vice president and general counsel at DMR Architects, to the state Economic Development Authority board of directors.

Enterprise Community Partners Inc., a national nonprofit that creates and advocates for affordable housing, has hired Judi Kende as vice president and New York market leader.

AKRF Inc., New York City, has hired Kevin Maher as senior vice president and energy practice leader. He was TRC Cos.' office practice leader in Lyndhurst, N.J.

CNY Group LLC has hired Arsha Cazazian as the firm's director of planning and design.

Montroy Andersen DeMarco, New York City, has hired Eddy Viteri as construction director with responsibilities that include quality control and constructibility reviews.

The Community Preservation Corp., a not-for-profit affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization lender, has hired Wanda Chin from the Low Income Investment Fund as chief credit officer.

The group also hired Matthew L. Nelson, former deputy commissioner and president of the office of community renewal at New York State Homes and Community Renewal, as vice president and mortgage officer in Albany. Nick Friend, from Citi Community Capital, joins the lender as mortgage officer in New York City.

MaxLite, West Caldwell, N.J., has hired Paul Shaskan as vice president of operations.

Lilker Associates Consulting Engineers, New York City, has named David Cyr as director of its newly created lighting group and Lloyd Jeffords as senior audiovisual designer of its technology solutions group.

Obituary:

Bruce Jabbonsky, vice president of STV's transportation and infrastructure division in New York City, died on July 13 after a long illness, the company says. He had been with the firm for 25 years and was involved in a wide range of assignments that included managing the modernization of the Union Square subway complex and the rehabilitation of the 66th Street subway station.
