Gilbane Inc."There is not a lot of private work" in Rochester, and construction remains slow, Roger says. Public agencies, local universities and hospitals offer most of the work, he says. Providence, R.I.-based Gilbane has 225 staff on site in Rochester working for the Rochester Schools Modernization Program, which includes renovation and modernization of 12 public schools. The city's other major projects include the University of Rochester Medical Center's planned $134-million, six-story dedicated children's hospital, set to start construction this summer.
