New York Region's Construction Industry Faces Historic Changes
Construction is booming in the New York region, a fact that partly obscures many pressures that are capable of transforming the industry, some for better and some for worse. Every corner of the industry, from engineers to hardhats, may well find their career prospects and daily routines altered by the discussions, negotiations, and trends that are bubbling to the surface.
In a city where construction cycles continue to speed up, contractors, developers, designers, labor, and the army of service providers around the industry face historic opportunities and decisions in the coming months and years. Technology, creativity, and collaboration may well provide solutions to all of the challenges on the horizon. But turf battles, competitive rivalries, financial strains, conflicting interests, and market forces could pull those same players apart.
